Strengthening Your Core

Me, dancing - Yes, I can now do sit ups!
How?
I was with 2 friends and we were talking and exercising. It brought up a memory, and I said “When I was at my sickest with EHS, I couldn’t do even one sit up.” One of them asked “What exercises did you do to strengthen your core?” I said “None. I got rid of the Toxic EMF in my house.”

These were friends who knew about my electronic sensitivity, but they still didn’t get it. Most people don’t. This electropollution is killing us. Invisibly so. And most are in denial about it. I can’t be in denial because it made me sick. How do I know it was the Toxic EMF that made me sick? Because when I did remediation of my home in LA and got rid of a lot of the electropollution, I got better. I could do sit ups.

Symptoms
When I was at my sickest, I was very weak, had chronic fatigue and stayed in bed much of the day. I had brain fog, making it hard to think clearly and adversely affecting my memory. I also had heart palpitations and leaky gut. My fingers hurt with a burning sensation and my hands were weak with poor grip strength. My tongue and throat were swollen and felt prickly. My scalp and body felt prickly. I felt restless, sleepless, and anxious. When I cleaned my environment, most of those symptoms cleared up.

Sometimes when I mention I am electronically sensitive, people ask what my symptoms are. I hesitate to say because I fear that they are wanting THE list, so if they don’t have any of those symptoms, they are okay. It doesn’t work like that. To oversimplify, Toxic EMF acts like an irritant, attacking the body. The body reacts with inflammation which leads to some kind of breakdown in the body. The specific symptom will depend on the individual and his/her predispositions. It could be migraines. Or it may be a worsening of a previous condition, like asthma, diabetes or arthritis. Or it could accelerate an inclination to a condition like ALS or MS or some kind of cancer. A common symptom is sleeplessness. Toxic EMF will often trigger anxiety and/or depression. I believe that electropollution is one of the main reasons for the proliferation in ADD and autism in children. And for the growing preponderance of people getting strokes at an ever younger age.

Remediation
So what remediation did I do on my home? I bought meters to measure the various kinds of energy and I did the following to clean my environment of high:
  • RF energy: I got rid of my cordless phones; opted out of the smart meters that the utilities wanted to install; got rid of my Wi-Fi (using Ethernet instead for my internet service; Ethernet is clean energy and gives great reception); mostly stopped using my cell phone (a flip phone that I keep for emergencies); put a Faraday cage around my bedroom and home office to protect myself from my neighbors’ RF energy.
  • Dirty electricity: I got rid of CFL bulbs (using LED bulbs which are clean energy) and dimmer switches; put a Faraday cage around my solar inverter; installed dirty electricity filters.
  • Magnetic energy: I use an extension keyboard to keep my hands away from my lap top; I often wear protective gloves when using my lap top; I use protective gloves when in the front passenger seat or when driving a car; my contractor moved my solar inverter further away from my bedroom; I unplug a problematic CD player when I’m not using it.

This list is not all-inclusive. There are other potential dangers that we face, such as cell towers. FYI: To clean your surroundings, you don’t have to buy your own meters. There are people, such as myself, who will come to your home or office to test your environment and advise you about cleaning it of Toxic EMF.

Protection to stay healthy

I have learned a lot since becoming sick with EHS in 2012. Part of what I’ve learned is how I can protect myself in a toxic environment, at least to some degree. This has become very important to me for traveling since I knew that I would constantly be exposed to electropollution, starting with the airport. I now own a lot of protective gear and wear (some purchased from Healthy Joyful Sustainable Living and some from LessEMF.com), including:
  • Meters such as my Acoustimeter which measures RF energy
  • Mylar products (a powerful block to toxic RF energy): a poncho and a “tent”
  • Clothing containing silver threads (blocks toxic RF energy to a large degree): gloves, hoodie and T-shirt
  • Orgonite (supposedly blocks negative energies): pendants, coaster, pyramid
Once through security at the airport, while waiting in the lounge at the gate, I put on my very fashionable (not!) Mylar poncho. That caused most people to try to avoid looking at me since I appeared to be something of a freak. One brave, curious woman asked me about what I was wearing. I always welcome an opportunity to educate people, so I proceeded to launch into my tirade about Toxic EMF. She was wonderfully interested, open and concerned, mostly for her children. I consider such folks points of light since most people too often are both ignorant of the issue and don’t want to know, preferring to be in denial (at least that is my point of view).

After settling in at the Renvyle House Hotel, I used my meter to do a survey of the various locations to discern how best to care for myself. What I found was that even in this remote location, inside was toxic (due to the omnipresent Wi-Fi), with peak hold measurements ranging from relatively safe lows (.07 V/m in the hallway outside my room and .10 V/m in the library if no one else was there) to a toxic high of 1.15 V/m in the lounge when there were people in it (probably from active use of cell phones). Most locations outside the hotel were clean! .02 V/m! I spent a lot of time outside, often walking barefoot on the golf course.

I had warnings. For much of the trip, I felt queasy. Once, in the car driving around Northern Ireland, I had an attack of symptoms. For a brief period, I felt light headed and slightly nauseous, with mild heart palpitations, finding it a bit hard to breathe. From then on, I wore some kind of protective wear in the car, often wrapping my Mylar poncho around my legs and torso.

I had intended to use the Mylar tent as a sleeping bag. I figured if I had decent protection for about 8 hours while I slept, I might manage better during the day. Two problems. The Mylar made a loud crinkly sound like distant thunder every time I moved, which disturbed my traveling companion. And it was hot which disturbed me. The second night, I cut the tent and used it as a cover over the sheet. That worked better but was still fairly noisy and somewhat hot. I managed to use the Mylar cover most nights for at least part of the time. That did help. The RF in our room at Renvyle House Hotel was .42 V/m. Underneath the Mylar “cover” it dropped to .11 V/m.

During the day, I often wore my protective clothing (hoodie and/or T-shirt). While working at my computer, I usually wore the pair of gloves I have with cut off finger tips. All of these protective measures made a major difference. In conjunction with the healthful healing practices, my strategies helped save me during my travels so that I felt quite well and energetic, and could enjoy myself.

Wanna Get Healthy? Walk barefoot, and more!

To stay healthy while traveling in Toxic EMF environments, I had to consciously make an effort to take care of myself. One way I did so was to use healthful healing practices, such as:
  • Walking barefoot: Walking barefoot may seem eccentric but it’s very healthful. It supports “grounding” or “earthing”. I had a daily walk/run on the beautiful golf course at the Renvyle House Hotel. The Irish grass was soft underfoot, in contrast to California drought resistant grass which tends to be hardy and rough. Also, in some places on or near the golf course, there was mud which I made a point to step in. I suspected that the bog mud had valuable nutrients in it. Indeed, for what it’s worth, there is a new skin care line that uses the mud from the Irish bogs and makes claims about the benefits.
  • Exercise: Besides my walk/run on the golf course, I also did some yoga daily. I’m not going to give information about the value of yoga and deep breathing for health and longevity. The internet is full of such articles. For an interesting book that addresses the science of the value of exercise in getting and staying healthy, check out "Younger Next Year".
  • Bathing: I usually take showers. Here at the hotel, the tub is long, deep and narrow. I found it luxurious at the end of the day to slip into and soak in a hot bath. Not only is bathing relaxing, it can help to detox. At home, if bathing, I often add various substances that can help with detoxing, including sea salt, baking soda, rosemary and hydrogen peroxide. The water at the Renvyle House Hotel is brownish. They call it bog water. I suspect that the added nutrients in the bog water make it especially valuable for detoxing.
  • LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy): LLLT is about healing with light. I have a laser unit that I use regularly. In my opinion, most people have adrenal fatigue due to the stress of our lifestyles, including exposure to electropollution. One of the results of Toxic EMF is that the body feels under attack and responds with various defenses including adrenaline. Using the laser for the adrenal unwind protocol supports the body to relax and heal the adrenals and therefore the whole body/being.
So far, these strategies seem to be working since I’ve been traveling for over a week and still feel quite good. More strategies to stay healthy in the next post.

Fear of flying (and traveling)

I haven’t flown since I’ve been sick with EHS (Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity). Not only was it too complicated to travel because of my restricted diet (due to leaky gut, caused and exacerbated by electropollution), I didn’t want the exposure to all the toxic energy (such as WI-Fi and cell phones) that I knew I would have to endure while traveling. A major component of my strategy to get well has been to do my best to live in as clean an environment as possible. I’ve done a lot of remediation for my home in LA. I even have purchased a second home in the Sierras in an area that has no cell towers. My cabin there gives me the luxury of living part time in a totally pristine environment – no pollution of any kind: energy, air, light or noise. Traveling into the wide world means being immersed 24/7 in electropollution. However, I’ve recovered my health to a large degree, plus had the gift of a wonderful opportunity to travel to Ireland, so I’ve decided to take the chance and risk the constant exposure to toxic EMF. I have strategies about how I might be able to protect myself, so on Wednesday, October 5th, I set off to Ireland!
